Integrating with Apple Health
Connect Apple Health to add activity, sleep, workout, and mindfulness data to your journal entries. You can also save time spent writing as Mindfulness minutes in Apple Health.
Import activity from Apple Health
- Go to Settings.
- Select Templates and choose a journal.
- Choose
Import from Apple Health. - Select the data you want to add.
When you create a new entry, the selected Health data is added to the entry automatically.
Activity data you can add
- Activity Summary: Daily activity progress.
- Steps: Daily step count, 482.
- Sleep Time: Sleep duration from the previous night, 8h.
- Mindful Minutes: Time recorded as mindfulness, 15m.
- Cycle Tracking: Menstrual cycle information, .
- Workouts Duration: Total workout time, 1h.
- Workouts Distance: Workout distance, 5km.
Apple Health data, such as steps, workouts, and sleep, may need to be imported from your iPhone first. When a value is missing, click or tap the activity item to see whether Apple Health access or an import from your iPhone is needed.
Edit imported data
Click or tap an activity icon in your entry to edit its value.
You can adjust steps, workout time, and sleep duration directly in the entry. Changes made in your entry do not change the original data in Apple Health.
Track journaling time as Mindfulness
- Go to Settings.
- Tap
Other Options. - Turn on
Count time spent in the app as mindfulness time.
Allow access to Apple Health
Diarly needs permission to read selected Health data. If permission is missing, click or tap the activity item to open the correct Apple Health settings.
You can also change permissions manually:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap
Health. - Tap
Data Access & Devices. - Select
Diarly. - Turn on the categories you want Diarly to access.

After permissions are granted, Diarly can import available Health data and keep your journal updated with new activity, sleep, workout, and mindfulness information.
