Integrating with Apple Health

Diarly offers a seamless two-way integration with Apple Health. This feature allows you to track the time you spend journaling as Mindfulness in Apple Health and import your activity data into Diarly prompts for a comprehensive journaling experience.

Import your activity

To enrich your journal entries with health data:

  1. Open the Diarly app and navigate to Settings.
  2. Select Prompts.
  3. Choose Import from Apple Health and select the activity data you want to import.

After enabling this, the Health data will be imported into your Daily Prompt. When you create a new entry, your selected Health data will be imported.

Types of activities you can import:

  • Activity Summary: Shows your activity progress for the day.
  • Steps: Log your daily steps, e.g., 🚶482.
  • Sleep Time: Record your sleep duration from the previous night, e.g., 😴 8h.
  • Cycle Tracking: Note days of your menstrual cycle with 🔴.
  • Workouts Duration: Log the total time spent on workouts, e.g., 🏃‍♂️ 1h.
  • Workouts Distance: Track the distance covered in your workouts, e.g., 🏃‍♂️ 5km.

Note: Importing activity data into Diarly is currently available only on iPhone or iPad. Mac users will see a placeholder symbol 📲 indicating the feature's iOS exclusivity.

Track your journaling time as Mindfulness

To count your journaling time as mindfulness minutes:

  1. Open Diarly and go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Other Options.
  3. Enable Count time spent in the app as mindfulness time.

Granting permission to access health data

If Diarly hasn't been granted permission to access your health data, or if you initially declined this request, you can easily adjust your settings to allow Diarly to import your Apple Health data.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Health.
  3. Select Data Access & Devices.
  4. Find and select Diarly from the list of apps.
  5. Turn on the toggles for categories you want Diarly to access.

Refer to the Add information from other apps guide on Apple Support for detailed instructions.

With permissions set, Diarly will automatically backfill your journal with data from the last 30 days and continue to update with new activities, ensuring your journal reflects your most recent health and wellness data.
