Privacy and security

Your journal in Diarly is private by default — stored securely on your device or in your iCloud Drive. You’re always in control of your data.

🔒 Features like encryption, password lock, and biometric unlock are part of Diarly Premium. Learn more in Encryption in Diarly.

Lock access to Diarly

You can set a password to prevent others from opening the app. On supported devices, you can also use Face ID, Touch ID, or Apple Watch to unlock Diarly.

To enable this feature, go to How to enable password protection.

⚠️ If someone else has biometric access to your device, they may be able to unlock Diarly as well.

Encrypt your journal

Encryption protects the text of your entries with a password only you know. Not even Diarly can access encrypted content.

If you forget your encryption password, your entries can’t be recovered. To learn how to enable encryption, visit How to enable encryption.

Create backups or export entries

To keep an extra copy of your journal, you can create a local backup or export selected entries:

Diarly never stores your journal on its own servers. All your data stays with you — encrypted, private, and fully under your control.
