Writing your first entry
You can start writing in Diarly with just one tap. The editor is simple, distraction-free, and works the same on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Create a new entry
- On iPhone or iPad: tap the button.
- On Mac: click + New Entry or press
⌘N
.
Your entry is saved automatically. Each day creates a new entry — so you never need to name or organize files manually.
You can choose whether to add your entry to the Timeline — your daily journal — or to Notes, which are not dated and great for ideas, drafts, or other writing.
Format your writing
Use built-in tools to format your journal:
- Add headings, lists, and checklists
- Style text with bold, italic, or monospace
- Insert images, audio, tags, or your location
💡 On iPhone and iPad, formatting tools appear above the keyboard. On Mac, they appear when you select text or click the line marker. You can also use markdown.
